Spring Fever

Has spring come to your neck of the woods yet? The weather keeps teasing us. The wind is not helping matters either. My four year old is so tired of winter. He looks out the window twice a week, sees the sun shining and asks,

"Can I turn the sprinklers on?"

Me: "Um, no!"

Him: "But the sun is shining." (sigh) "When is it going to be hot?"

The weather may not be cooperating, but life goes on at Happy Feet Farm. Some of those things are unpleasant, like disbudding goats, allergies and taxes. Most are wonderful like:

New baby bunnies.

Making "dirt angels" in the freshly tilled garden.

Watching baby goats play...

Planting seedlings in our jammies!

And cleaning up the yard!

I am just as excited about the upcoming warm weather as my little buddy. It brings more garden space for us this year, an aquaponics project that I will share soon, and time in the sunshine soaking in the Vitamin D! What are you looking forward to most about Spring?

Do you find this "Pinteresting"? Is it likeable? Does it leave you Twitterpated? Please consider following My Lamp is Full on Pinterest, Facebook, or Twitter.

This post is partying with these awesome hops. Check them out for inspiration.

  1. Wow, Jack had grown. We need to get together some time. I love spring. Allergies from spring aren't so fun though. Thank goodness for our essential oils. We are looking forward to planting a garden. We haven't decided exactly what kind of garden yet. Thinking about building raised garden beds, hanging tomato planters, rain gutter trellis planters for strawberries, and soil bag gardening to kill our crab grass this year. Excited that our hens are laying again. We bought 7 new chicks (2 Silver Laced Wyandotte hens & 1 rooster) not sure what the other 4 chicks are yet. We will add them to our older flock in a few months. Our grandson is now 6 months old and just loves watching the dogs, chickens and chicks. We will be working on a play ground area for our grandson and our niece and nephews. Have a great weekend.

    1. I want to do the strawberry rain gutters too. Rocky thinks we can manage that with our aquaponics, but the wind may have other ideas!! We have a night time predator who is slowly picking our chickens off. Time to set a trap.
      Thanks for your comments.

  6. Warm weather and more sunshine would be so nice right now! The baby bunny is so cute! When I was young, our rabbits had baby bunnies. I loved it when they started to get fur and you could tell what color they were going to be. And then being able to hold them when they were closer to the age of the one in the pic. So fun for kids. :)

  7. Hi Janine! I'm hopping over from Let's Get Real to see what you have been up to lately. Looks like you have been busy! We woke up to 4 inches of snow over the weekend, but today most of it is melting. Can't wait for the warmer temperatures. We can't wait to get outside. My son starts baseball practice this week. It should be a real mudfest. Sure home it is warmer for my little guy.
