I am a gal who likes to get the most bang for her buck. I spend a fortune on bottled organic applesauce for the kids. But it usually gets opened and forgotten and then is a molded mess in the back of the refrigerator. Well, when I was a kid, my mom used to make us what she called "green applesauce." It was the best stuff ever! There was never a drip left after Sunday dinner. Her recipe was as follows:
1 jar of applesauce
Juice of one lemon
Zest of one lemon
1-2 drops of green food coloring.
SO. GOOD. Well, except for the green food coloring.
I had an idea, a wonderfully delicious idea. I got my jar of applesauce and my lemon and then just a bit of reen dehydrated vegetable powder from Blendfresh. You can choose from four colors.
So, if you want to really add some great nutrition to your applesauce or pear sauce or whatever makes you feel saucy, try this:
1/2 cup applesauce
1 T red or purple (I like purple best) fruits and veggies from Blendfresh
1/2 t probiotic powder from Blendfresh
Mix well and enjoy. Once again, SO. GOOD! Like put whipped cream on top and call it Jell-O good. Oooh, gotta try that next.
No more wasted applesauce and a great way to get fruits and veggies into the day without having to peel, chop, cook, mash, or find molded messes in the back of the fridge.
